Other staff on the ward would comment on why Mary came to work for Nights with such a large rucksack, she would just give a shrug and have a little twinkle in her eye. But on her lunch breaks would get out a camping mat and settle down for half an hour in one of the rooms off the side of the ward. Usually this passed unnoticed, but one night while she was kipping the door opened and someone cautiously crept in and was about to settle down likewise when they suddenly realised Mary was already there! It was one of the Drs who had the same idea as Mary and hoped to catch 40 winks. He made his apologies to her and quickly left the room.
