Marys bench

I first met Mary when she was running The Toddler group at her church Elmwood, she was always lovely and friendly, smiley and chatty. At the start I went with my own baby and then with other parents babies and children when I became a registered childminder. A good while down the line Mary asked me if I could care for Amy Who by that time was a toddler. It was always a nice feeling when such a lovely family Who knew you asked you to look after their precious children. To me Mary seemed happiest when she was outdoors, when she came to collect Amy she would always go and sit on her own on the bench in the back garden under one of the many mature trees she said it was like being in the woods. One afternoon I took Amy Who was a toddler and my dog for a walk in the park. The dog picked up a stick, turned round quickly to set off running and knocked Amy over. I phoned Mary Who was heavily pregnant with James at the time to tell her what had happened and that Amy seemed fine. Mary started crying which set me off crying, it was definitely the Hormones for Mary, it was so unlike her. She came round, we had another cry then a hug and then a laugh and then she went and sat on what I had named Mary's bench in the garden...... Marie
